History -- This Jeep was bought by my father in October, 1971 (used). It was built in December, 1970. I learned how to drive in this Jeep. It has been as far south as Cabo San Lucas, Baja Sur, Mexico and as far north as Inuvik, Northwest Territories, Canada. When I disassembled it, it had only 127,673 miles on it. Over 90% of those miles were racked up driving it to/on 4WD adventures. I acquired the Jeep from my Dad in 1989 when his health no longer permitted him to enjoy it. It has been to the Rubicon, Moab, Baja, Inyo Mono and many, many more. When Dad purchased it, it had the 225 V6, T-14, 4.89’s, Trac-Lok rear, N78x15 ATCO’s, tire rack w/2 5 gal GI cans, Warn OD and full cage. Dad added Saginaw power steering, extra tank, tow bar and fender exit headers. My first mod was a 4" Trailmaster lift, then a narrowed Scout Dana 44 front end. After finding and repairing several cracks in the frame, I decided it was time for a new one. The Jeep has been apart now since February, 1994 and is finally starting to come back together. Ever have to move when you’re in the middle of a project like this? ...Not fun!
Clubs/Trails --Pacific Northwest 4 Wheel Drive Association, Region 1, (Land & Legislative Officer since 1994), Boeing Employees’ Stump Thumpers 4x4 Club (Secretary & PNW4WDA Delegate), Timber Tamers 4x4 Club (PNW4WDA Delegate)
Other Jeeps Owned -- A ‘53 M-38A1 w/’57 ‘Vette 283 hp 283, T-90, D-18 w/Warn OD, 5.38’s, Pos-A-Traction L60-15 Stagger Blocs, painted AMC "Mad Green" was first, then a ‘62 Willys Wagon w/350 Buick, TH400, D-20, 3.54’s, N78x15 ATCO’s, which gave way to a Jeep that had a ‘53 M-38A1 frame, ‘69 CJ-5 body, ‘69 Camaro SS’s 325hp 350, T-86, D-18 w/Warn OD, 5.38’s, 31x10.50 Armstrong Norsemans. I was Jeepless for a couple of years, then got a ‘69 Toyota Land Cruiser, but that just wouldn’t do, so it was sold and I went a couple of more years without until I bought the Jeep from my Dad. I currently also own an ‘86 XJ Cherokee Laredo, 2 Scouts and my wife drives a Geo Tracker. My motorhome is my only 2WD... but wait, it’s a dually, so does that count for four wheel drive? :)
