Trails: Mostly Sierra stuff, like Dusy Ershim

Events Attended:

Previous or Other Jeeps owned: I bought a 4.0 XJ Cherokee new in '88. I liked it, and it did a lot better than I expected off road, but it developed chronic over heating problems way too soon, thanks (in my opinion) to a stupidly designed cooling system. I finally sold that in '96.

Other: I bought this Jeep new in 1986 for hunting and fishing in the Sierras. I figured it might help get me away from a few of the yahoos (aka, fools and loudmouths). I worked. I find that most of the folks I've met beyond the road's end have been good people. There have been a few exceptions, but not often. I used it as my all around vehicle for the first few years. It was retired from active street duty around '91. It doesn't see much asphalt now, except on the way to someplace good. Up till a few months ago, the body pretty much looked like it had spent a lot of time off road. I figured after 14 years of faithful service, it deserved some restoration, hence the new paint job (it used to be tan). That should be good for another 14 years. Although I've done a lot of work on this Jeep, the modifications have all been within reason, I think. I've tried not to overkill.
