Year / Model

1978 CJ7, Golden Eagle

Engine

AMC 304 V8. Re-bored with a high torque Cam. Stock 2 barrel carb. (not as much horsepower but never stalls, on any incline) Heavy duty hamster on the generator pulley.

Transmission

Chevy Turbo 400: Automatic 3 speed Shift kit Heavy duty torque converter

Transfercase

Borg-Warner/Quadra-Trac. Converted to part time two wheel drive with a Mile Marker kit.

Rear Axle

Currie Ford 9" Hi-Pinion, 4.56 gears, ARB air lockers, Warn axles with full floater axles and locking hubs.

Front Axle

Currie Ford 9", 4.56 gears, ARB air lockers and Warn locking hubs.

Wheels / Tires

Centerline Hellcats / Goodyear MTR 35x12.50

Springs / Shocks

Custom soft ride springs by Deaver Springs. I am not even sure how tall, but tall, maybe 7 inches or more. Rancho RS9000 adjustable shocks One Rancho steering stabilizer

Misc:  ARB onboard air compressor; Power steering; Power brakes/disk; Chrome-Molly Tie Rods; Reverse front shackle (The best street mod I ever did, no more white knuckling on the freeway! No kidding, do it.); Warn M8274 Winch (good for landscaping and helping out other rigs....since getting ARB's front and rear I don't use it much); 26 gallon extra capacity gas tank (still can't go as far as a stock V6); Full roll cage (almost tested it at Tierra Del Sol); Currie rock crawler bumpers and tire carrier.; Heavy duty DayStarter Battery

Current / Future Projects:  Remove front CJ7 fenders, put in Wrangler fenders so I can fit TJ flares. (needed to tuck the 35" tires and still look covered up for the police). Cut and trim rear fender wells so I can add TJ fender flares. Do some welding, from the darn holes left in the body from he old roll cage (only the old guys will know what I mean) to welding the damage from 33" tire on the stock tire carrier tearing at the body for 14 years. I need a new custom front drive shaft, I have so much droop it keeps falling out. (I had to add Diest limiting straps to keep it in place)

Trails:  The Hammers in Johnson Valley, Death Valley and John Bull Trail in Big Bear. (I also did John Bull on a mountain bike, what was I thinking!?)

Events Attended:  Jeep Jamboree Rubicon, Tierra Del Sol, Morongo Basin Desert Run and Arizona 4-Wheelers desert run.
Events Planned:  Moab......Bump dump, potato salad hill, golden crack, Lion's back......enough said.

Clubs:

Previous or Other Jeeps owned:  Grand Cherokee. (it's my tow Jeep and something that can carry more than the miniscule interior of my CJ7)

Other:  My father bought this Jeep brand new in 1978, I have never been the same since. At 11 years old I learned to drive in this very same Jeep. To this day I drive it everywhere I can, it puts a smile on my face like no other car can. My dad only paid $8,700 for a brand new top of the line Jeep back in 1978, I just recently spent almost $14,000 dollars in needed repairs and major upgrades. Some people don't understand why I did it.....but my dad and I do. "It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand"

Questionable Upgrade:
4.56 gears are too low with a 3 speed auto trans on the freeway. I would have been better off with the 4.11's and I still would have kicked butt off road.
